I pitched the idea of deconstructing the Nick Saturdays properties to form the nick logo. We thought it was a long shot cause it was kinda gross, but came out really well. But the biggest challenge came from testing. The script that tested the best was essentially the same exact thing we have done in the first three scripts. We were fond of a script that involved machinery and interiors but we found ourselves modeling nature again. We were able to simplify our color approach which was refreshing for we were only allowed to use certain HGTV color palletes that were surprisingly reductive. The water systems we used for the river and ocean presented some challenges, most of it ended up being hand keyed. V-Ray proxies saved the day for the ocean. The project changed drastically after it was completed requiring us to rethink the entire second half of the spot. The previous spots had been about bright bold colors found in nature. For this spot we wanted to take a different approach that felt more cinematic. We wanted it to be about how light affects local color over time. From sunrise, noon, dusk, till midnight. The spot was to do done entirely in timelapse, referencing films like koyaanisqatsi, and Buraka. However, the client did not really get it, nor like the fact that for many of the shots were in shadow and not as bold and beautiful as Bees. So to save the spot we used the balloons as through line to bookend the spot, which worked, but the original animation ideas were incredible. <img
